Most frequent questions of a new Trans Julius rider

Trans Julius is not an average enduro race and lately we have received many questions from riders who have registered for the first time. We are sure there are even more questions we haven’t answered here and we would love to receive them at ride@trans-julius.com.

Can amateurs register for the Trans Julius?

Absolutely. The event is meant for everyone who want to push their boundaries and that set the goals in their live high. From a difficulty point of view it is meant for amateurs.

 

Is biking to the start place time limited?

All ascends are limited - to the start place of a descent. The descents are timed.

 

What is the mandatory gear I need?

The mandatory gear is:

• helmet, that needs to be on your head in times when you are on your bike;;

• knee protection;

• bike lamp for the night stage in Kranjska Gora.

What you need with you at the time of the stage?

We recommend:

• 1 l water or rehydration fluid (there will be refreshment points available on stages)

• 2 tubes 

• Mini pump

• Bike "multi tool"

Do I need a bike lamp?

The first day of the event is set to take place in evening hours so a bike lamp is mandatory. Some parts of the stage will be lit up, but most of it will be in total darkness.

 

Where do I attach the start number and timing chip?

The start number needs to be firmly attached to the handlebar. The bike chip must be located on the wrist of the contestant. 

 

What if I loose the timing chip?

In the event of loss of the timing chip compensation in the amount of 10 EUR will have to be paid. 

 

What about cleaning and service of the bikes?

At the Continental Service Point you will be able to clean and repair basic breakdowns.

 

Will medical assistance be available?

There will be a medical rescue team with all the technical gear available at every destination. There will also be marshals present along the stages with direct contact to the medical rescue team.

 

What about dining, how will that be taken care of for the duration of the event?

All the stages will have refreshment stations after each day a hot meal will be waiting for you - and it won't be pasta! :) We will make sure that you will enjoy the specialities that are local to the destination we will stay at. Your registration includes:

  • 1st day: dinner

  • 2nd, 3rd and 4th day: lunch

 

How will the transport be taken care of in between destinations?

Between destinations (Kranjska Gora-Bohinj, Bohinj-Most na Soči, Most na Soči-Cerkno) we will transfer with passenger cars, but if you need assistance with the transports, please let us know and we will hook you up :)

  • 1st day we meet in Kranjska Gora

  • 2nd day in the morning we will drive with cars from Kranjska Gora to Bohinj

  • 3rd day we will ride with the car train from Bohinj to Most na Soči 

  • 4th day we will drive from Most na Soči to Cerkno

 

What about booking my stay?

At least 2 months before the event our local touristic offices will prepare a special offer just for us for different types of accommodation. You will book your accommodation directly with local touristic offices.

  • 1st night (from 21st to 22nd June 2018) you need accommodation in Kranjska Gora

  • 2nd night (from 22nd to 23rd June 2018) you need accommodation in Bohinj

  • 3rd night (from 23rd to 24th June 2018) you need accommodation in Most na Soči

  • 4th night accommodation is not needed, but it is highly recommended that you can stay at the closing Trans Julius party and enjoy with us at Fun&Bike Park Cerkno on 25th June as well :) 

 

Will the stages of Trans Julius be published in advance?

As is a custom in such events the stages will not be published in advance. For all riders it will be a blind race on all stages.
